📖 The epic drama of the Wagnerian Ring

Forbidden love, conflicting gods, and destiny-altering decisions converge in a score of extraordinary intensity that captivates from the opening measures. Featuring iconic passages such as the celebrated "Ride of the Valkyries," the opera delivers a gripping theatrical and musical journey rooted in the medieval Edda and Nibelungenlied legends.

Viktor Antipenko makes his debut with the company in the role of Siegmund, performing alongside Carla Filipcic-Holm as Sieglinde. The top-tier cast also includes Marko Mimica, Egils Silinš, Daniela Barcellona, and Ángeles Blancas as Brünnhilde, supported by an accomplished ensemble of voices portraying the valkyries.

🎭 New staging and musical direction

This engagement marks the international premiere of a new production designed by Guillermo Amaya for ABAO Bilbao Opera. Drawing inspiration from works by Hans Haacke and Tony Smith, the stage concept frames the narrative within a ruined landscape that underscores human fragility. In the pit, conductor Pedro Halffter leads the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa (BOS) through Wagner's surging, complex score.

✨ An unmissable encounter with grand opera and mythological drama in Bilbao.
