📖 The journey of the magic umbrella
The plot begins with the imaginary discovery of forgotten scores and an umbrella once owned by composer Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga. Through this magical object, the show follows a character navigating childhood, youth, maturity, and old age.
The piece also pays tribute to iconic elements of Bilbao, including its wet pavements, the estuary, historical floods, shipyards, and towpath women (sirgueras). The soundtrack by Nerea Alberdi and Aitor Etxebarria blends fresh compositions with Arriaga's renowned melodies.
🎭 A grand collective stage production
Over a hundred young singers from the Bilbao Choral Society—including the Children's Choir and Eskolan Kantari ensembles—take part under the choir direction of José Luis Ormazabal. The cast includes actors Loli Astoreka, Leire Ucha, and Itziar Manero, alongside soloists Julen García and Ibone Sardón, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble led by Aitor Biain.
ℹ️ Good to know: Performed in Basque with Spanish surtitles.
✨ A moving celebration of music and memory to keep on singing in the rain.
