📖 About the Programme

Shakespeare's timeless tale of the star-crossed lovers of Verona has drawn composers across centuries, yet few have conveyed it with the kinetic force and emotional drama that Prokofiev achieved in his celebrated Romeo and Juliet suite.

The evening also features the monumental Symphony-Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 125, composed near the end of Prokofiev's life after his inspiring musical encounter with cellist Mstislav Rostropovich.

🎶 Conductor and Guest Soloist

Conducted by Markus Stenz, the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa delivers these Russian masterpieces alongside German cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, tackling the demanding solo score within the Palacio Euskalduna auditorium.

✨ A powerful symphonic event celebrating Prokofiev's legacy in Bilbao.
