📖 Love, deception, and the games of power
Although the original novel was published in 1782, Christopher Hampton's script speaks directly to contemporary issues, tackling power dynamics, consent, and how money can purchase almost anything. The story exposes how the ruling classes toy with the less privileged with total impunity, using intimacy and emotional manipulation as destructive weapons.
Protagonists Valmont and Merteuil remain two fascinating characters completely devoid of moral restraint, echoing modern scandals involving wealth, abuse, and influence.
🎭 Production and creative team
Directed by David Serrano, who also co-wrote the adaptation with Curro Novallas, this production features a cast led by Roberto Enríquez and Pilar Castro, alongside Ángela Cremonte, Carmen Balagué, Ivan Lapadula, and Lucía Caraballo.
The artistic team includes set design by Ricardo Sánchez-Cuerda, lighting by Juan Gómez-Cornejo, costume design by Elisa Sanz, and sound design by Luis Miguel Cobo.
✨ A compelling theatrical portrait of seductive games and moral corruption.
