📖 A portrayal of the underworld and despair

Welcome to a tavern of misfortune where patrons drown their troubles in cazalla while all hope of escaping life's bottomless pit fades away. This production pays homage to Alfonso Sastre's classic play, La taberna fantástica, bringing to the stage the atmosphere of the slums and the outcasts that inhabited his work in the mid-1960s.

The stage fills with souls scarred by adversity: a son who arrives too late to bid farewell to his dying mother, a man out to settle a score at knifepoint, a grieving widower seeking solace in alcohol, a vendor trading his own blood for money, a blind beggar faking his condition, and a tavern keeper who resignedly watches his patrons slowly fade away.
